Disable "Fast User Switch" in Windows 7
My issues are that I want to migrate about 300 machines next year from XP to Win 7. I've been using it for the past few months and am really impressed. The problem I have run into is that I have placed a test machine in a student lab and students do not log off - after 30 minutes (per policy) the machine locks and the next student sits down - so far, no problem. However, thoughout the day, the machine gets slower... and slower... since there are numerous students logged into the machine. I know XP disabled this feature after a domain join and, for some small office scenarios, this is a great advantage, but for a domain admin in a school environment, this is going to be a BIG problem. Already have the reg hack to "grey out" switch user but then no one but THAT user can unlock the machine??? Already found that I can mstsc into the box and log out the user but I won't have time to micromanage logging off students?? Nor did I really want to open another port on all workstations (upper school students get bored and I catch many hacking into and around our systems) Is there not a way to turn off this feature completely?? I want to be able to decide when and where (and IF) I want to allow "fast user switching"- Looking forward to anyone's ideas on this~
